As you probably guessed from the title of this blog, I am interested in “the cloud”. One of the things I love about my current role in Windows Azure (Microsoft’s cloud services platform) is helping customers leverage the cloud, and Windows Azure specifically, to:

  • Realize new business opportunities (my favorite!!!)
  • Save time
  • Save money

What is the cloud?  “Cloud” is admittedly a broad term.  I’ve found the cloud computing definitions by The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to be the best at cleanly breaking down cloud computing into the various offering types:

  • Service Models
    • Cloud Software as a Service
    • Cloud Platform as a Service
    • Cloud Infrastructure as a Service
  • Deployment Models
    • Private Cloud
    • Public Cloud
    • Hybrid Cloud

My involvement in the space has been as a user (duh!), business owner, and program & product manager.  At the moment, that means this blog will include my experiences

  • Building features for and apps on Windows Azure, Microsoft’s cloud services platform
  • Having “fun” managing my life with the latest and greatest consumer-oriented cloud services
  • Leveraging content management systems, specifically Drupal and Wordpress, to streamline workflows at non-profit and for-profit organizations
  • Occasionally speaking about online marketing, SEO, and/or entrepreneurship
